ANATOMY OF THE EYE ” MAKEUP VERSION ” !!
LIGHTEST SHADE - Apply the lightest shade as a base on the entire eyelid including the brow bone but avoid going all the way to the eyebrow for a more sophisticated look.
MEDIUM SHADE - Sweep the medium shade over the middle of the eyelid and blur it toward the outer edge of the eye to add depth.
DARKEST SHADE - Apply the darkest shade along the base of the lashes with the beveled precision applicator to define and accentuate the eyes and intensify the eyes.
HIGHLIGHTER / ILLUMINATOR SHADE - Apply the highlighter to the inner corner of the eye and below the eyebrow for a finishing touch. This helps to illuminate the eyes, making it look bigger and brighter.

Diagrams like this aren’t necessarily the right thing to go by… there is no ONE specific eyeshadow look that is going to compliment EVERY eye shape. (Even though this is a pretty broad chart, and is okay for the most part..)   A style that looks great on a person with monolids is going to look completely different on someone with deep-set eyes, and so on.
So instead of trying to follow things like this, or the diagrams that come with your eyeshadow palettes, go on YouTube and look through tutorials until you find someone with a similar eye shape to yours!!!  Then you’ll really be able to see what flatters you.
